Peace News. Shannon airport demonstration

network for recognition & payment for all caring work, and the return of military spending to the community starting with women the main carers everywhere.

This Saturday Global Women’s Strike Ireland  will be taking part in national demonstration at Shannon on Sunday 12th October at 2pm.  This is part of a whole weekend of events at the airport to protest at Ireland’s involvement in thirteen years of US led warfare.  If you want to join them, call 087 7838688.

Galway peace stalwart Margaretta D’Arcy (80), who was imprisoned twice this
year for opposing US military flights travelling to war via Shannon airport, is continuing her peace campaigning. She is calling on Irish people to join the peace demonstration at that Co. Clare airport on Sunday October 12th to mark the 13th anniversary of the US military presence there. The Galway Alliance Against War will be organising a bus to the peace event – those interested in travelling should contact the group on 087-9159787 or galwayallianceagainstwar@gmail.com

Musicians, photographic and other artists are invited to use the public spaces at Shannon to express their disgust at the airport's 13 years of involvement in renditions, weapons transportation and global warfare. In addition, groups of peace activists plan to hold an overnight peace camp and vigil at the airport from 2pm on Saturday Oct 11th. This will continue up until the main event at 2pm on Sunday Oct 12th.
